I never can but help wonder whether things would have gone better for Matty Groves had he not been so candid with Lord Arlen about how much he enjoyed cuckolding him. It really seemed to trigger him when maybe an apology from Matty would have served to diffuse some of the tension from the situation. Not a master of tact, poor Matty.Well anyway, great version of a great song.

I think this is the first version I've heard that Lord Arlen kills his wife too. All the other versions I've heard, Lord Arlen/Lord Daniel just kills Matty Goves.
