This was my childhood with my parents. Dad has been dead several years now. But my mother still acts like this. Nothing I do is correct. I am always wrong even in fields of study I have researched sense I was 5 years old. I am never good enough in her eyes.

I played this song everyday while I attended college. My parents still don't accept me for who I am. I've cried myself to sleep so many nights...

no it's not about that why would her voice inside her head say "how many times do i have to tell you to hurry up" or "how many times to i have to tell you to hurry up"

I think the song is about how society expects us to be perfect, and she is saying all the things her family says to her.

it's about an eating disorder. the voice inside her head controlling the disorderis the one talking

it's basically parents speaking to their son/daughter. Their best is what's expected. " sometimes isn't enough". Perfection is the only option. It's a parent who is telling their child that they will only love them if they are perfect.

This was so my mother, the competitive one, who wanted you to win at everything & make up for her mistakes.

@Dork167 Oh sweet heart, I get it and I am sorry. You ARE good enough.

@heywannafallinlove I think you don't understand because you can't relate. I think then, that is a good thing. I do get the lyrics. It is very sad. Parents that should never have or did not really want the kids they born. But you know what? We grow up and grow on...but sometimes we regress and need songs like this....ah hell.
