I'm from Memphis, TN. I'm not racist, in fact I advocate for equality among all races, I don't believe in God contrary to the stereotype that all Southerners are Christian, I'm pro LGBT, and I'm a strong feminist that recognizes the fact that black women are for the most part left out of this movement sadly and I don't agree with it. But this song makes me proud to be from the South even if I don't always agree with everything in my own white conservative household. I used to feel uncomfortable when someone owned a confederate flag, but now I see that it's not a racist symbol unless you make it one. And I know that many white people do make it a negative symbol by using it to announce their ignorant beliefs, but if you use it as a symbol of pride of the South and recognize it as a cultural thing, which is possible, then it is a positive symbol. Idk I just felt like ranting because so many people on here have this stereotypical mind about *all Southern people that we are all uneducated, red neck, racist, religious extremists and that is simply untrue. (notice the * I know that there are ignorant assholes from the south and that makes me sad)

I'm a northerner, but that doesn't make me a typical northerner. I don't drive a Prius and I fly my flag with pride. SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!

Of course, if you come to a country song on YouTube, you'll find nothing but rednecks defending racism and bashing liberals. By the way, the south is only the best place on the planet because you people have never left it.

I'm from the north and even I can set aside a 150 year old dispute for an amazing song.

Everyone not from the south just assumes we are racist and stupid ...never even been down here just prejudice and ignorant..also all the northerners that tlk about how yall one the civil war ...that's great...but hate to tell you if it wasn't for southern economy the country would fail within a decade n if it wasn't for industrialized north and their economy the south would fail 2. So stop bit chi g and get along ..we can't live without one another

southerners and their backward attitudes. The rest of America is moving on without you bigots. Wile Most of the US is in the 21st century, the South is still stuck in the 19th, how sad.I prefer the Pacific States (Excluding Alaska), The upper Midwest, and New England myself

When they say, "papa got a job with the TVA, he bought a washing machine and then a Chevrolet" makes me so happy. Song is so positive and hopeful.

I was raised in the rural part of nj, I would love to have been raised in the south. Where I'm at there are a lot of people that support the south and are raised as a southern gentleman.
