Christmas 1987 my first child was just 5 month old...but I heard this and it instantly became...and has remained...by favorite Christmas song. Over the years, as I'm planning, purchasing and wrapping all the presents for my now very-large brood, I hum this song over and over.I remember finally having to confirm to my firstborn that there "really" wasn't a Santa Claus. He cried and felt betrayed. But I looked at him and reminded him of some of his most favorite toys he received on Christmas. I told him about how much fun I had giving them to him knowing I wasn't receiving the credit...that it wasn't about me...it was about his joy. I then asked him to no take that feeling away...to always believe in Santa Claus. I gave similar speeches to child #2 and #3; still not confirming to child #4 though!!A couple of years ago, my oldest at age 24, opened a gift that was truly COOL, and he said with such conviction, "There really is a Santa Claus!!" Through teary eyes, I smiled.

If there was just more BELIEF in this world, even if we know it's not so, we still NEED it. Love this song more every time I hear it, and believe me, over MANY years, I have heard it a LOT ! I play it all year round because it's so beautiful. We just all need to BELIEVE ! My granddaughter is 5 and still believes in Santa. Heaven forbid I will NEVER tell her any different.Maybe by the Grade of God she will ALWAYS BELIEVE !!! What kind of hope does the world have if we do not BELIEVE !
