Actually, I wrote this song and Al first heard it when we were at Ovation picking up some guitars for a tour. I was playing the main riff and Al said "Hey, that would work great for a last song on an LP." Well, he moved the chorus and the verse around and wrote some lyrics which we recorded as a demo at Peter White's house. (It's on "Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time") We recorded the instrumental in Santa Monica with me on steel string acoustic and Peter on nylon string playing the melody.

aaaghk-- I really like this tune and much of the accompanying video, but that "Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model" shot is gratuitous, ridiculous, and completely out of place.

@luminorguy It's truly an awesome piece. I probably like "Denise at 16" by Al better, but not by much. This song actually has been recorded with very cool lyrics, but it's on a rarity album.

Always liked this. I Have the George Jetston like CD from Al. S.. Peter white layered this nicely. Saw him at a Noble and Barnes back in 2003 I think it was. Fantastic video here. Nicely done...

OMG!!!! I found this beautiful song by accident while searching for Al's "End of the Day." I forget all about this gorgeous piece of music. I use to hear this all the time back in the late 80s, early 90s on a smooth jazz station which is long off the air. Hearing this beautiful tune again after 20 years makes me want to cry. This one has been added to my playlist. Thanks for the upload. :-)

This beautiful instrumental was not originally planned for the album. Al Stewart wrote this piece with lyrics, but when he heard Peter White and Steve Recker perform this instrumental, he chose to record it as we hear it. So, it's the only track on Last Days Of The Century that actually does not feature Al. I met Peter White years ago at his concert, and he told me this very story about the song. It's my favorite guitar piece of all time! Thanks for posting!

Lovely! Rather reminiscent of what Peter White does - not really surprising given that they worked together so long. Has the same feel to it - can't say that it sounds exactly the same but there's a similar mood in some ways.
