I'm never gonna understand this.

I'm never gonna let it be.

I just can't understand this aged plan.

It's obsolete.

How could you recognize

and cherish hysteric fairy tales.

They've come to life.

Now sit by and listen...

the whole world wails.

I feel as though I've been abducted,

or maybe I am just misplaced,

as I watch these rash hysterics

lay to waste the human race.

Just ask them if the sky will

open and save us from the truth.

They say that they'd leave today

just without, without you.

Is this one big joke?

I can only hope.

Say your prayers, they're the final punch line.

I don't see the love

below or above.

I see you're scared, well I feel fine.

Oh please believe I'm doing just fine.

For what's deceased I shall never grieve.

Just let your faith die.

I feel I have been abandoned.

I alone seem to see disgrace

as I watch these mad dogmatics

govern our entire race.

Don't tell them you can walk

on water or they may drink your blood.

Why live for pain, in the name

the name of, name of Love?

I can only hope

this is in one big joke

with your prayers as the final punch line.

How is it divine

when it's flawed design?

Fill the cracks with faith I can't find.

Oh please believe I'm doing just fine.

For what's deceased I shall never grieve.

Just let your faith die.

Screaming for pure love

you venerate delusion based in hate

Bleeding from pure love

for this I pray:

We've got to shake the faith

Oh please believe I'm doing just fine.

For what's deceased I shall never grieve.

Just let your faith die.

Oh please believe I'm doing just fine.

For what's deceased I shall never grieve.

Just let your faith die.

Honestly this is my favorite AFI album and this my fav song on it ( perhaps darlin) but this is an amazing song and it contrasts to black sails ( god called in sick ) so fuck religion this is music)

a person on the internet

Davey has never forced his beliefs on people. The only ones forcing their beliefs are the religious people who get so worked up about songs like this one. I think everyone has a right to their beliefs...just don't shove 'em down people's throats. And respect that people have every right to voice their opinion in their art (like in Davey's songs that he writes.)

Lots of afi/Blaqk Audio lyrics have a second or double meaning to them.

I'm all tipsy on my religion right now and this song isn't helping. I'v been a christian for all thirteen years of my life but it's really hard trying to believe in something I can't see. I don't want to go to hell if god is real but but if he isn't then I'm just waisting my life going to church twice a week and never drinking or having sex when I'm older. :'( It's a really good song though. I love AFI with all my heart.

Yes much better than most anti-religious songs. I love it. It's exactly my outlook on it.

No one is forcing you to listen to this song, so how is he forcing his beliefs on you? Christian bands aren't forcing their religion on you, you don't have to listen to it. They are just stating their beliefs, so why can't there be just one atheist song?

I don't believe in organized religion or any of its doctrines, save for morality. All the same, I am willing to coexist with religions but I think that religions should not be allowed to cradle snatch their followers. People should make their own decision on faith when they come of age, not be explicitly educated in the ways of one and one only until they find out the hard way that there are others and that maybe make more sense to them personally.

I may be wrong, but I dont think this song is completely against religion. He also says things like "we've got to shake the faith", or " how is it divine when it's flawed design?" or "why live for pain in the name of love?" so I guess this song is NOT against religion, but against who practise it in a wrong way, at least, that's my interpretation and I think, it make more sense than yours.

easily AFI's best song since the TAOD days. glad to see they still have some real shreds of punk rock left in them. (and just so i don't get a shitstorm of butthurt comments: i do enjoy the rest of their later stuff too.)

Well considering this song is Davey's personal opinion of religion and he was a catholic growing up being sent to strict catholic schools and all the rest, I think he has a very broad understanding of religion. He isn't implying any of the things you've accused him of he's simply stating that he has lost his faith somewhere along the line, and now he see's it in a different light.

He was brought up Catholic in a Private School (if I'm not mistaken) and I've not seen one person come out of that sane or not having a full abhoration for religion

If It was played faster and Davey sang harder it would totally fit in with the songs on Shut Your Mouth.

Great song. I totally agree. Fuck Religion. It needs to die already.

I'm glad some people are stepping out of the box, and seeing that Religion is one big HOLY HOAX. But with some families, it's bombarded on their children which is wrong, every child should have their own choice, and by the time they have freedom they're too scared to say NO. They're too brainwashed to see that they're believing in something that is not real. Religion was created in a time when there was no hierarchy, to control over people. It controls and separates I'm glad I saw this young.

Im not sure many of you know how to use the word Hypocrite. BTW some people put way to much stock in songs.

It's a well done "Fuck You" to religion. It's not arrogant, it has points, unlike other songs. I'm Agnostic btw.
