Afi covered a filth song. Jake Filth why did you let it happen?

Hey there's nothing wrong with Pantera dude. Why pick on a band that will never rise again? Anyway yeah this is AFI back when they used to tour with Ensign every time they played out. Those were good days, the 90's..

I think it's pretty easy to know why they changed. Black Sails, All Hallow's, and Art of Drowning each seemed a bit more melodic than the last, and like they were building up into something, which finally came out on Sing the Sorrow. Decemberunderground was a continuation/evolution of that sound. I personally think their evolution as a band seems natural, it just started to happen a bit faster when they hit a major label.

TSOL changed too... Within a small number of years even–but at the same time, they were aiming for their own artistic advancement and NEVER would they have been caught dead playing New Years Eve at times square, much less covering the 1982 equivalent of White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army".

How about this. Some bands change, and some don't. You cannot compare AFI's career to Iron Maiden's career. I agree that Crash Love isn't very good. There is no absolute...Some people like AFI now, and some don't. We could go on and on about this...

I guess at the end of the day you can't know why AFI changed styles. You can say they sold out into decemberunderground and crash love but people said they sold out after open your eyes when they started playing more hardcore stuff. Some bands grow and change their style, sure record labels and producers often manipulate song structures and shit but the songs are written by the bands. So its hard to say whether they sold out or just released a bad album....cause crash love still sucked dicks...

-shrugs- money is what happened. Either change who you are, or be a struggling working musician forever.

It's funny cause they left Nitro because they were growing tired with the style they were sporting.

Wrong, Incorrect. They signed with a different label, and they allowed themselves to be twisted to the label's wishes and completely changed. Band's don't "Get bored with their style" That's their sound their soul, Iron Maiden has never changed their style ever. Where's your argument there??? Simple Iron Maiden didn't sell out to appease the mainstream. Everything after Sing the Sorrow is shit. Admit it. Crash Love was utter trash.

Quite the contrary, the fire is still there, it's just different. They got bored and tried different styles, no great artist can stay with one style forever. ALL of their music is amazing, and they have yet to disappoint me. Don't get me wrong, they have songs I don't love but as a whole, they have yet to disappoint me.
