I know that bro! What I meant was that when a band tends to call themselves "dark metal" it can be either black or death metal sounding. Bethlehem sounded close to what we would call dsbm today, my friends band Fog sounded like straight black metal, and this sounds like blackened death (all use or used the dark metal title, if I'm remembering correctly). You see what I mean now?

a good way i tell my non-metal friends to distinguish between the two subgenres is the following: Cookie monster vocals with blood and guts lyrics ---> Death metal. Gremlin vocals with fantasy journey/nature lyrics---> Black metal... A mix of either of these categories ---> blackened death metal.

@nielsennemath Yeah I knew that at some point! I actually got corrected by a member of Aeternus a while back. The only problem I have with the dark metal distinction, is that it can sound like either death or black metal, or a mix of both. ....and honestly I'm not too sure how to distinguish between them most of the time.

@Crnilo616 Actually this is more of a hybrid of their black metal days and the death metal band they are today. This is their transition album so to speak.
