Saw Steven & the Boys on this tour during the summer of '78 in Oakland and to be perfectly honest, I was not impressed. Don't get me wrong. I love this band and their music. I don't know if being on tour had taken a toll on them, if they were just off their game that particular day, or if maybe their sound engineers dropped the ball when they set up for the open-air venue. Whatever. But the sound quality, while not exactly poor, was not up to "headliner"standards. AND the whole performance was too choreographed, devoid of any spontaneity. We Bay Area-ites expend a lot of energy at the concerts we attend, and I guess we expect a little extra effort from the performers, some thing to make the show memorable and uniquely our own. It seemed like they were just going through the motions.

Those guys were stoned out of their minds for this show. It's amazing how good that was. This show was nearing the end for that era of Aerosmith. There were addicts trying to be musicians at this point. Again, amazing how well they pulled it off.
