People who just think this a pile of notes are delusional. Ironically, the dame criticism was made of MozartHé exemplifies the concept of all this machinery making moderne music in the most open hearted Way!Beautiful, haunting, inspiring

Boring! Just put a machine on stage and hit play. Is this what guitar playing has come to?

somebody use to say that some musicians are like painters ... great! it's such a fascinating trip and the arpeggios in the end are very strong. great great Adrian

In my opinion, it was Fripp, who changed and developed Belew's guitar style and technique this way. This video basically shows, what guitar techniques and what playstyle you had to have, when wanted to be in King Crimson.

I always felt that Belew stood in the shadow of Robert Fripp. Only recently I'm discovering that he's really an incredible musician in his own way, and totally unique. Totally away from the mainstream, lame-ass "shredder" bullshit in every way. We need more like him.

That is all true to an extent; but it's a ridiculous standard that fails to recognize great success until you're a household name; in other words a multimillionaire superstar. Belew has graced the covers of many major guitar and music mags, played for everyone from Laurie Anderson, to David Bowie, to Zappa. Few musicians ever reach his level of commercial and artistic success, yet he can be called "overlooked" because the average person on the street never heard of him.

I appreciate your appreciation, but you overstate the case; many people do not overlook him, which is why he gigs all the time, has played with everyone from A to Z (Laurie Anderson to Frank Zappa), and continues kicking ass on the world's stages and in it's studios.

Exactly; he is a great model of success in my eyes; much more so than a crappy band that makes millions. He makes enough to have a good life with what he makes from music, (even a $10k+ guitar), has thousands of fans, and lives his dream. Millions of fans would be nice, but maybe it's more fun to play 300 seat theaters; I wouldn't know. I know if I were in his position, I'd be pretty psyched!

As Belew's old mentor Zappa said, "The music business has got nothing to do with music". The fact that Belew has been able to make a successful career out of music simply makes it a lot easier for him to dedicate more time to something he loves to do anyway and would always make time for, regardless of how he earned a living. People who are in it for the money will never have that priceless Belew smile. As the saying goes: You can't buy happiness!

Is that an allusion to 'Indiscipline'? ;-)
