For the people complaining about reverb, just gate it with a bit of release and add a little bit of reverb with a short tail if you want it to sound smoother.

Of course that a studio acapella has reverb otherwise I the voice wouldn't sound at the same level. I mean it would sound sustained because the instrument sound would sound over it unless it was leveled down. Reverber is just to sound at the same anchure.
