Lyrics

I'm a wishbone

And I'm breaking

Yeah, I'm wishing for Adda Lee

And the lake sings

And the dogs don't

They are quiet for Adda Lee

Adda Lee

I'm sorry and I miss you

And away

I went away

Cause I wished I was away

I wished I was away

A wishing well

Of well wishing

And Adda waves away

Adda waves away

Heroine of the stars

I don't know where I am

But I know who you are

Adda Lee

Adda Lee

And she whispered

And she left me a man

For the world

Adda Lee

Oh, Adda Lee

Oh, Adda Lee

This song is explosive with visual landscapes. I can see this song in my mind very vividly.

I remember reading in an old interview at the time of this release that Charles wouldn't go into what this song was about, as it tore him up so much, suffice to say you got the impression it was about someone very close to him that died. I almost feel like I'm better off not knowing, but does anyone know the story behind this?

"I'm a wishbone, and I'm breaking..." LOL at all the "indie kids" who are too quick to jump on the Pixies bandwagon but to stupid to see the awesomeness of FB's solo stuff....

The song conveys such infinite longing, and that in turn translates into timelessness-- i will forever fall in love again and again each time I listen to this song!
