I was an accordion (yes, accordion) student from 1960 until about 1965. By that time, the Beatles had arrived, and I'd long given up any interest in my accordion. So I traded it off to the local music shop for a set of drums, and continued to play drums until I was well into my twenties. I finally decided I'd like to play guitar, and bought myself an Epiphone acoustic from a Jacksonville, FL pawnshop in 1974 or so. No lessons, just buy a couple bottles of Boones Farm on my way home from work (I was a Navy Corpsman), and sit down and drink and fuck with the guitar. In 1977, a year after I'd been discharged from the Navy, and was playing guitar in a local band, the other guitarist brought a bootleg copy of "Let There Be Rock" to practice. Changed my life forever. I immediately fell in love with this band and, as I was a firefighter/paramedic at the time, had plenty of days off, which I spent playing along with AC/DC until I had Angus' every note down perfectly.I was fortunate enough to have seen the band in the summer of 1979, about 6 months before Bon died. There were a number of bands on the bill, headlined by Heart. The first band to perform were TKO, who were rapidly and fairly booed off the stage. The second act was AC/DC, whom most people in the U.S. weren't familiar with at that time. They fucking rocked that stadium!!They were followed up by UFO, Nazareth, and one or two more, but I was there to see AC/DC, so I really don't remember anymore. I can say that Michael Schenker and UFO put on a great show, as did Heart. But my lasting memory will always be of Bon Scott and AC/DC. I'm within 2 months of Angus' age, and I'd give my left arm to play like him. Wait, no, that wouldn't work!
