Their 'new-wave' 1980s material was muchly underrated.

The 2012 version of I Am The City on The Visitors Deluxe Edition is the best sounding version of the track available on CD.

What I love most about this song is that whilst the classic ABBA harmonies are there... there is a definate shift and embracing the 80s technology... we can only dream of what they might have gone on to achieve.,...

thank you for the great videos and songs. these are some i 'm getting, never heard on albums, or before, mostly i'm looking for the individual abba players, modern 2012-2013 songs.

Bjorn is obviously flying back to Stockholm and ready to land at Arlanda Airport. He is looking through the clouds at his sprawling city. It it a revelation, beautiful. It is constantly growing even if it is because of illegal immigration. The city is organic, a living thing.

the compression is a little over bearing but the speed is better than the 1993 version

This happens to be on my list of top 50 favourite songs of all time. (Which may, or may not, contain more than 50 songs.) And right now, it feels rather apt. We are all part of the life blood of where we exist, and we are nerve endings to every other region we touch. The more we realize how much we impact everything around us, the more control we give ourselves to act and react in an efficient, effective fashion, regardless of our individual end games and purposes and desires.*I'm sure there's a much more poetic way of stating this, so your morning challenge is to show me how you would do it.*Heh. Rather reminded myself of a Brin novel just now.I dedicate this to +Luis Roca and his love of #LiteracyAndArts .#OhHaiLuis

I wish someone would make a 37 hour version of this as I really like it. I need it in my life.

@disremembrance The 1999 version is slightly slower than the 1993 version.

I don't understand why everyone is saying that the 2008 version of 'I Am The City' is faster than the 1993 version there is no difference and this version does not have a heavy brickwall compression although the 1999 version is slightly slower than the 1993 version but its hard to tell.

I'm no ABBA fan, but I am a musician who mixes and masters his own stuff and I definitely hear the difference between the 1993 and 2008 versions and prefer the dynamics of the '93 version, even though I put out a lot of ridiculously sidechained and compressed stuff.

@mrwatchman111 No, I'm afraid it's not how you say. You weren't in Abba so you will never know.

'I Am The City' is a fabulous song from 1982 and I like the 2008 version.

@mozpiano2 What about the 1999 version? That's the one I have.

@mozpiano2 AMENDMENT - after close analysis, the speed between the 1993 and 2008 versions is the same. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that! Of course, the 1993 lack the heavy brickwall compression found on the 2008 version, making it sound much much more better.

I really like this version!!! I really didn't like the version on my 1997 remastered cd, it was like a child's song...this is much more adult. Still, not one of their best songs

@mrwatchman111 The song was completed in 1982. There were plans of an album in 1982, a catalogue number POLS352 was even alloted for it but never used. Benny and Bjorn did not leave them, and any such thought is nonsense, as is the though of Agnetha and Frida 'not liking' them. Both girls have said in interviews up to and including 1985 that there was to be a new Abba album. They are hardly that reliable then. And Chess was anything but a failure, still playing worldwide today!
