Aaliyah paved the way and produced some of the most influential songs/albums for R&B/Hip-Hop artists such as Drake, Ciara, & Rihanna, but Beyonce was going to be a huge star regardless of Aaliyah's death. Beyonce is a mega star & Aaliyah has nothing to do with that. Aaliyah was about to dominate the world, but was gone too soon. Both are legends.
