The complete and original line up of Across Five Aprils reunited to write and record a few songs in conjunction with a series of reunion shows in late 2010. In 2011, this collection of songs was released through Indianola Records as the EP Going Down With The Ship, this song is from that collection. The band's name was selected from the title of the first full length album they released as Across Five Aprils in 2003 on Indianola Records. Each member enjoyed writing and playing together again with friends so they collectively decided to continue writing new music. A Tragedy Progress recently tracked a full length which is tentatively set to be released in the summer of 2012.
Lyrics:
Be careful not to burn any bridges we say
And then we turn and walk away
Twenty-twenty is the hindsight we say
We never look back anyway
Do we choose to heed words of wisdom?
Or would we rather make our own mistakes?
No matter what it costs to be who you are
it's a price worth paying
Know when to slow down and when to work hard
Do you hear what I'm saying?
Think before you talk and crawl before you walk
Respect is not free it's earned
Take a word from someone who knows
Make your mistakes lessons learned
Don't be ahsamed of your battle scars
And they pile up fast
And when they come back show them all the door
These battle scars are past wounds
They're not hurting me anymore
Make your mistakes lessons learned
