Paul Desmond (November 25, 1924 May 30, 1977), born Paul Emil Breitenfeld, was a jazz alto saxophonist and composer born in San Francisco, best known for the work he did in the Dave Brubeck Quartet and for penning that group's greatest hit, "Take Five". Known to have possessed an idiosyncratic wit, he was one of the most popular musicians to come out of the West Coast's "cool jazz" scene. He played a Selmer Super Balanced Action alto saxophone with an M. C. Gregory model 4A-18M mouthpiece — both circa 1951 — with Rico 3 ½ reeds

This song makes me feel like I'm in a second story apartment unloading my groceries while I sip a cup of coffee and listen to the sounds from the street below the open single hung window in the kitchen. There's bikers riding by, a few people walking their dogs. Few to no cars at the 4 way stop. And my toast just popped. The butter melts on it as if it was meant to be one and now I sit contently, belatedly reading the morning news. None of this happened. But that's what I feel when I hear this.11 years ago

okay, RJD2 made this hip hop, but I like this way better, even though I'm a hip hop junkie. between the soul in the sax and the mellowness of the drums, this just makes me very happy, Ghostwriter makes me want to run or fight a battle, so it would be good for movie credits, but this song is something I could listen to everyday.11 years ago
