I'm inspired to write a sermon about the inconvenient truth about gods love.... And I'm not a pastor. Mind if I ever get the chance to do it in front of people that I share the song ?

Just because your wife finds a way to rationalize these verses doesn't mean its still not sexist. (I'm male btw) Try 2 Timothy. "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet." There are many other examples. My bigger point is that the Bible is an imperfect book and its scares me how many people take it literally. Christianity would be better off if it kept the parts about love and ditched the rest.

You aren't sure about it because you can't decide what parts of the gospel are relevant to you. Which is fair. EVERY Christian does that and if no one did, it would lead to an even more fucked up religion. And back to the sexism: "For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man." This myth of some kind of paternal hierarchy leads down a dangerous path.

and I'm not accusing you of gay bashing. I'm just saying that you, like every other Christian, picks and chooses the parts of the Bible they want to believe. Some parts of the Bible are absolutely incredible. But Christians tend to not focus on those.

Give the first 16 verses of 1 Corinthians 11 a read (there's a nice dose of blatant sexism in there as well).

first off, even if we pretend homosexuality is a sin, is it one really worth comparing to terrorism and rape? second, the old testament says tattoos are sinful. the new testament says men with long hair and women with short hair are sinful. there are literally hundreds of commands in the bible that Christians disregard on an everyday basis. so don't pretend that discrimination against gays is any more legitimate than these things.

sin is sin, each equals another. Although each sin has a different level of consequence in life, even one sin separates us from God. Living how we were born to live, in fellowship with Him, is holiness, but we give in to our flesh. The Book of James explains it awesomely :) And just the Romans chapter 1. Isn't it more bigoted and ignorant to not know why Christians include homosexuality and assume we're hateful? Some are full of hate...but I can't call them true-hearted Christians really :/

So "homosexuals" are referenced in the middle of a list including "murderers," "pedophiles," "rapists" and "terrorists"? For a minute I thought this band was above the typical Christian ignorance and bigotry.

@jer1ndie People do very wrong, sick, demented, and evil things. Rape, murder, stealing, ect. Stealing is stealing and rape is rape. I'm not justifing either, because both are wrong. Would shop lifting a pack of gum next to stealing a car be the same as just foundeling a child and not accually raping him/her? They're both so wrong, but there is still forgiveness. I'll be praying for you. Have a nice day :)

@4ever4given95 That's bullshit! So in your view, stealing a pack of gum is as morally wrong as brutally raping a child? Bullshit. Fuck religion

what I love most about this is that it is not watered down in the least. God considers a disrespectful child the same as a muderer. There is no sin greater than another, no person better than one. Whatever sin you have committed, God WILL forgive.

@SammyAndHisGuitar I don't think someone should be afraid of saying truth just because the truth is offensive or explicit. The church needs more offensiveness and explicit content lol. And not outwards... but towards itself

@TehPuddinz Yeah, I prefer the No Sir and Anorexia/Nervosa era, but they've really changed their sound - albeit subtly sometimes - with every album and they haven't let me down yet, haha. I'm with them no matter where they go at this point.

I love this song so much. Very bold. But this are real problems, why run and hide from them? These are very big problems to. I dont think this song is bad. Its explaining that were no better then anybody else, and Jesus loves us no matter what... I just wish they woulda put some screamo songs. But like Josh said "everything in Showbread has changed except the name."... Still wanna screamo song though XD
