A very good song sung by Frank Sinatra.

I'm working on this song now, so I have an interest in hearing how different singers interpret it. I do like how Sinatra interprets some parts, particularly the last section, but he also makes other parts a little too "chipper", when blue or melancholy would seem more appropriate. I certainly do agree that he always made each song his own. Here, Frank also brought out shades of the early, high-tenor version of himself. Nice to see that he still retained some of that inside himself.

Frank made each song his own by adding his own twists. Artists do it all the time in music. Transcribing music for orchestras for piano solos, Horowitz's Carmen Fantasie, I could go on. Does it really matter if the singer adds their own touches while giving credit where it's due?

Frankie's distortion of the lyrics with his added 'improvements' is beyond annoying - why did he -and his producers - think his ridiculous inflations raised the quality of the song? A Gershwin lyric doesnt need any help from Sinatra...

Love Ol' Blue Eyes' rendition of this great Gershwin classic. Ol' Frankie alway had such wonderful arrangers. THANKS a lot for sharing this delightful gem with us! :)
