I've listened to a lot of versions to this song from R Kelly to Al Green, even Patti Labelle and my conclusion is.... Everyone needs to stop singing this song and just let Sam Cooke sing it! The only other person who did it some justice was Luther Vandross.

I am torn with this performance because in my honest opinion it was not very good. I'll give him credit that he is one of the better stage performers from Idol and he has a powerful rockers voice to match. He was all about showcasing vocal skill rather than conveying meaning. In other words all voice and no soul.
