Renaissance Man (LYRICS)He's the high priest of the futureControlled experiments are his specialtySewing up questions with mental suturesTrying to make some sense out of realityA renaissance manTearing himself from The RockA renaissance manTearing himself from The RockIt's from "star stuff" that he's madeIt's the cosmos that gave him lifeHow does that help him feed the poorHow does that help him love his wifeChorusHe's cast away all thoughts of heavenHis science is full of preconceptionsHis answers make me ask more questionsHow many can wait on evolutionChorusHe needs to liveOn the sides of the northIn the city of ReformationThat's where he'll find his lifeChorus

I saw Servant in concert waaaaay back thirty years ago. They were "really real" to me. At one point in my life I would have characterized them as anointed. they were the real deal anyway. I don't understand the judgement going on here.

Oh I dunno, The Alarma Chronicles were pretty good. I never ever got tired of hearing Mall All Over the World. And their early stuff was at the forefront of Jesus rock, along side such contemporaries as Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill, and of course the late great Larry Norman. Bubble gum? No I'd never describe Daniel Amos that way.

Neither Rez nor Servant were/are/will be a "cult", nor should they ever be referred to as such. Bands like this, and the groups they are part of, have done more for God's people than the churches that you, the reader of this, belong to. In the end, stick with this motto; if you can't say anything nice about somebody, SHUT UP.

FYI people, Servant was a band loosely associated with Jesus People USA, the same group that Rez Band was (and still is) a part of. The fact that they live in commune and share everything they have seems to scare some of the people posting here.

Servant always made me a bit nervous. I saw them in concert in 1984... but, there was something about them that didn't sit well with me

Wow, really? That's too bad. I have a copy of their album "Caught in the Act of Loving Him" and I quite like it. Just curious though, what does Servant have to do with The 77s?

The band "Servant" was a cult out of Oregon. Those people were wacked..They wormed their way into the Christian music scene. They were going for "The Village" type of community long before the movie came out.I met their "reps" who seemed like they were brainwashed back in the early '80's.They stayed with a friend of mine who was on the verge of throwing them out after they helped themselves to his hairbrush, antiperspirant, toothbrush, etc. They were warped.

His science is full of preconceptions, his answers make me ask more questions, how many can wait on evolution?

These guys were part of a fantastic, hard-edged, edgy sound in CCR that rocked as hard as anything in the so-called "secular" world but had a message with some bite and truth to it.

Nothing better than freaking out our church members when blasting Undercover's "God Rules" on the stereo.

God is beyond the understanding of your puny brains. Don't try to understand the how only the why.
