How old are ye of little liking of 311's newer albums? I understand the want to hear harder and more upbeat music (which there is plenty of out there), but 311 is not only that... Actually, they aren't ONLY anything. They are a bit of everything (omitting country thank God!), and do not have to fit any shape or form of expression musically that may be wanted from us as fans. If you want to hear music like that which you hear on Soundsystem and the Blue album, then go listen to Soundsystem and the Blue album! They've grown older, as have I, and I like the diversity within this band that allows me to hear a bit of variety from just ONE group, not ten different groups. And BTW: Universal Pulse contains a few heavier songs which are great. Time Bomb, Wild Nights, Rock On, and Weightless. Uplifter has Jackpot and Get Down which are both fantastic! And how come no one ever mentions the album From Chaos? Top of the line it is! You are not required to love or even like all the music 311 has put out, but you are required to actually LISTEN to the music more than once in order to form a REAL opinion. Any musician or connoisseur of good music knows this. LOVE YOU 311!!!
