everybody says that screamo is pretty on and off like when they go from growling to singing but this is it being used well, you go from one sound to another and keep the song together, with screamo its two different songs in one. punk is really different today then it was 25 years ago. i really wish it evolved a different way because its a whole new genre now, but then again it proves just how many new genres came out of punk in the last 15 years. rock and roll will never so will punk. dont beleive me death metal has a bit of punk in it. it really changed the music of today

This song used to make me feel depressed, but now it always motivates me.

People say Punk died in the 80's but that's complete bullshit. AFI kept Punk alive through the 90's. Although they are complete soft cocks these days they were the last TRUE hardcore/ punk rock band.

it's so funny listening to all the people argue about when afi sucked and which album sucked and which one they absolutely love, or when they sold out.or you should appreciate them because their in some transitional period and all music matures as it ages (well all their songs would sound somewhat different because their not going to write the exact same song.)any way just because they're changing doesn't necessarily mean they're automatically better change doesn't always mean progress.it's like these people arguing on here are discounting that people are separate from themselves and will have a different taste in what music they like.just listen to what you like it makes no sense to listen to music you hate if you don't like it don't buy it or listen to it duh.

Well said. Their earlier albums will always have a place in longtime AFI fans' hearts, but just as AFI has progress and matured, so have I. And hopefully others. I've enjoyed pretty much everything they've put out since Answer That. It's been fun growing up with them. And Davey and the gang still put on an amazing show.

I think someone should punch you in the face. It seems you've forgotten what they're all about: progression and maturity.

My thoughts exactly. Jade ruined the band. Mark was the balls, IMO.

So you're implying only insane people guess other peoples motives for their actions? So if someone robs my house I shouldn't assume they are a junkie/scumbag/asshole because I don't know the reason why they needed to steal all my valuables? Or say we shouldn't jump to conclusions about North Korea's nuclear program because they might be trying to accomplish something positive? The point you made was fucking retarded, it's human nature to wonder why people do things. Keep studying psych, kid.

AFI themselves have said many times that the music they are making now is reflective of how they've always wanted to look and sound, just now they are able to portray it musically and otherwise because they have skill and experience. But, shit, I listen to this album and SYMAOYE every damn day. Im glad it exists

It doesn't matter who they are as people, or ideally. The music just doesn't sound the same, and they happened to change to a style that many fans of old AFI don't want to hear at all.

why is it so hard for people to like multiple AFI genres? o_o selling out isn't just changing your sound to fit the popular crowd. it's changing everything about you to gain their acceptance AFI still holds the same ideals and put in a really strong effort into their music it's not like they hire a producer to do their work and make them popular why is it so hard to appreciate change nowadays?

Psychology is all based on theory with virtually no proven facts. Before you try and label someone as delusional you should first know them and spend time with them You can't assume anything based on what you see or hear; often there are deep rooted emotions and motives to behaviors. I am very familiar with psychology but I don't base everything on what I see and hear without having spent alone time with the person.
