Whoa...the bit from 4:36 on, until the final vibrations of the crash cymbal fade, should be on a "Greatest Endings in Rock Music History" CD. Soul forged of dark heavy metal in the blast furnace of the blues, and a premium set of pipes to vent its fury. Not a bad combination for a frontman. And not many can nail each individual note in these triplets and blues scale fragments in fast runs like this--much less do it while screaming actual NOTES--in key. (For the ultimate example of this bizarre talent check out Keep On Burnin', verse 3.) Sick vocal skills, and here he was just getting started. His voice improved for years, then mellowed into a smoky, velvety, guttural growl perfect for the blues. The wailing buzzsaw shriek is gone, Edgar isn't. "Turn to find yourself a different game/Things that are old can be new!" Yeah!Great tune with an absolute killer ending, Edgar! This one, plus Tobacco Road from the same album (for the famous 14-second freak-shriek) and Frankenstein should all go on the 'Greatest Endings' collection

This guy was miles above everyone in his complex multiple melodies and just plain grooviness. He is a GEM.

Just an awesome album! True genius. Wore it out when I bought it on vinyl back in 1970.

Thank you so much, Indigo. I too have the vinyl from yesteryear. This is great stuff. Horns, keys, drums, guitar, bass, vocals. It is all there, not to mention song construction, for all to learn. I still can't remember where the drummer takes off for a few moments, which song that is. I'll find it here among your amazing sensibilities. Terrific, doesn't get close. How about awesomely, awesome? Yep, that'll work. This is great music, of that there isn't a doubt. Thanks aplenty, once again.
