Where Do the Children Play? is a song by British folk-rock musician Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam. It was the opening track of the album Tea for the Tillerman, released in 1970.[1]

The song reflects awareness of the turmoil of the late 1960s and the issues involved; war, urban sprawl, poverty, ecological disaster, and the future of humankind[citation needed]. The same themes and concerns are repeated later in many of his songs[citation needed]. Indeed the lyrics are those of a man watching innovation from an accepting point of view but however is asking himself if we are not forgetting essentials[citation needed] as repeated in the chorus: We're changing day to day,but tell me, where do the children play?

The song was used for the soundtrack of the 1971 movie, Harold and Maude. The film, directed by Hal Ashby and written by Colin Higgins, shows a scene during the song, where one of the lead characters, Harold, is driving, and then, the camera, from above, shows him driving past first one little white grave stone, and then pans out to a large area of the identical war-time gravestones, until, panning even further, the number of little tiny white graves is nearly overwhelming, and underscores the point of the song. -wikipedia

Switch on summer from a slot machine

Yes, get what you want to if you want 'cos you can get anything

Well you roll on roads over fresh green grass

For your lorryloads pumping petrol gas

Nice. Only one point and this isn't a criticism..your finger should be hammered off and on the E string while playing the D chord, the G chord should be played with an open E string and with the D on the B string.

Sounds nice... Definitely know a quality guitar when you hear one! I like how you put your own spin on it... Have you tried hammering your middle finger on and off the D (and if you feel like it your ring finger on the G) as it sounds pretty good when playing solo? Anyway, good job!

I have six Taylors and two Martins so I have lots of gear for both. It just so happened that I decided to use the Taylor 12-fret for this song. My last two purchases have been a Martin D28 and a Martin GPCPA1 plus and each has become my on-stage guitar pursuant to purchase. The other guitarist in our acoustic band has dozens of Taylors and plays a Taylor with the band so my Martin is a good change of pace.

Wearing a C.F. Martin shirt and playing a Taylor? Is that intentional? :)

Obrigado. Eu vou fazer a cobertura "Pai e Filho" em breve. Eu tenho dois filhos. Um morreu em um acidente de carro em 1996, por isso às vezes este tipo de canções são um pouco difícil para mim, mas vou tentar.
