You chose with ageTo speak with a prima ballerina's rageAnd speak of all the kingdomsThat would swoop downStick aroundThen proceed to ignore youNo flash pot pan, guitar manOr resurrected Apollo mythTo seal your fateFeed your plateAnd just plain worship and adore youBut the pills you swillBring you no thrillSo travel lightly on the wing this timeLeaving all your baggage behindAs you wander through your vagabond stageAnd find yourself shovelling shitWith a rusty jack-handle queen of a broken spadeYou must not be afraidYou must turn the pageYou wore your goddess downIn jaundiced disarrayYour halo fell into decaySwiped by those you lovedBut could not hold in sway behind youAnd then the dry spell leavesAt a low shutter speedLong enough for you to seeThat you create your own realityAnd that the wait alone will not enshrine youAnd the war that you sworeWould pour through your doorTo come to your rescue this timeIs all in your mindNow as you wander through your vagabond stageAnd you find yourself shovelling shitWith a rusty jack-handle queen of a broken spadeAnd you find yourself kicking dirt aroundWith your Paris green pumpsOf pentacles and precious jadeYou must not be afraidYou must turn the pageYou dreamt a world of thingsLike you were a duchess bornOr Coretta Scott KingAnd the queen does not invite you over for a tea at her gaffIn ScotlandOr in Buckingham's back-yardNow I'm sure 'Van the Man' of whom I'm a fanCan surely understandAs he said "It is not why, it just is."So therefore you need not remain scarredAnd in time you'll findThat your salvation is mineAs you travel lightly on the wing this timeLeaving all your baggage behindNow as you wander through your vagabond stageAnd you find yourself shovelling shitWith a rusty jack-handle queen of a broken spadeAnd you find yourself kicking dirt aroundWith your Paris green pumpsOf pentacles and precious jadePulling the roots from your hairDyed from a bottleYou saw in a windows withAn 'Everything must go!!' sale signProminently displayedAnd yet waiting for your dancingOn the edge of a precipice heart to singThose serenading soul songsThat fulfillingness and consciousness bringsReleasing you from your captive cageReplacing love for all your rageTurning your hope on a rope's magic pope kaleidoscopeInto a rabbit's foot paradeYou must not be afraid(Eyes forward babe)You must turn the pageOne thing is sureAnd that is changeWhen the water's risingYou can't remainMove to dry landMove to dry landYou've got to move on

Awesome song even in this acoustic form, who does he remember all these lyrics, I used to stop the tape and write the words down and still caught heck but it was fun and opened me up, a great lyricist and never got his due credit. Refused to sit still and let America / Hollywood recreate / box him, Sananda you made my late 80's and early 90's
