Hello! By special request of my friend Adam "Elton Bootlegs", here is my first 1989 show: live at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 3, 1989, the first of five consecutive shows he would perform at MSG in 1989! This is an audience recording, and the quality is very good for one, though in a couple of songs, you can hear some people in the audience talking, but that doesn't detract from the experience.

In 1989, Elton's voice was in great shape (but not as great as his 1984-1985 voice), given the fact that he mostly recovered from throat surgery to remove vocal nodules in 1987. Here, as is typical of his Sleeping With The Past tour, he plays a Roland digital piano, which has pretty good sound (but not as good as Steinway or Yamaha), and delivers great vocal and musical versions of Bennie and the Jets (great vocals, though not as good as the previous years musically), Island Girl (great vocals and great music), Harmony (though 1980 is better), a great medley of The Bitch is Back and Brown Sugar, an even better medley of Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters Parts 1 and 2, Daniel (great vocals and music), Levon (he even somewhat gets the high notes), Sad Songs (with a great intro), Saturday Night's Alright, and Rocket Man (all live versions of this song are great!)
