I think Zack being a lot more hip had to do with him being straight-edge coming out of the hardcore scene with Inside Out. I think if he channeled that type of tone he'd get in touch with his street roots again, which is what he needs to do. Fuck being in his 40's, lots of people still rock out like they're 20, don't see why he can't do that.
