You know as a guy in the army that is about to get deployed, and who has lost several friends in the past years due to the war. This song is hard to listen too, I love it but at the same time it makes me tear up at the same time. I can't help but think of the great men that I loved and knew as friends that gave their lives. It hurts to know that there are people out there that don't care about the ones that give the ultimate sacrifice, especially here at home . They don't know what it feels like to loose someone close to you. Especially to have someone at home that you care about out that doesn't seem to show the love and care for what you do. God bless the USA and all we can do is hope and pray that the people we love will understand and be there for us in the end. Thanks to all my fellow brothers in arms out there that have served and gave there lives for the freedom of U.S. Lives

I heard this song for the first time while watching the College playoff. loved it so much i had to rewatch it several times. I personally like both the original and this remake. i know it helps some of us that have fought, served, and lost loved ones in wars. It has helped me to connect, and mourn.

"Dress Blues"What can you see from your window?I can't see anything from mineFlags on the side of the highwayAnd scripture on grocery store signsMaybe eighteen was too earlyMaybe thirty or forty is tooDid you get your chance to make peace with the manBefore he sent down his angels for you?Mamas and grandmamas love you'Cause that's all they know how to doYou never planned on the bombs in the sandOr sleeping in your dress bluesYour wife said this all would be funnyWhen you came back home in a weekYou'd turn twenty-two and we'd celebrate youIn a bar or a tent by the creekYour baby would just about be hereYour very last tour would be upBut you won't be back, they're all dressin' in blackDrinking sweet tea in styrofoam cupsMamas and grandmamas love youAmerican boys hate to loseYou never planed on the bombs in the sandOr sleepin' in your dress bluesNow the high school gymnasium's readyFull of flowers and old legionnairesNobody showed up to protestThey just sniffle and stareThere's red, white, and blue in the raftersAnd there's silent old men from the corpsWhat did they say when they shipped you awayTo give all in some God awful war?Nobody here could forget youYou showed us what we had to loseYou never planned on the bombs in the sandOr sleeping in your dress bluesNo, no you never planned on the bombs in the sandOr sleeping in your dress blues"Dress Blues"What can you see from your window?I can't see anything from mineFlags on the side of the highwayAnd scripture on grocery store signsMaybe eighteen was too earlyMaybe thirty or forty is tooDid you get your chance to make peace with the manBefore he sent down his angels for you?Mamas and grandmamas love you'Cause that's all they know how to doYou never planned on the bombs in the sandOr sleeping in your dress bluesYour wife said this all would be funnyWhen you came back home in a weekYou'd turn twenty-two and we'd celebrate youIn a bar or a tent by the creekYour baby would just about be hereYour very last tour would be upBut you won't be back, they're all dressin' in blackDrinking sweet tea in styrofoam cupsMamas and grandmamas love youAmerican boys hate to loseYou never planed on the bombs in the sandOr sleepin' in your dress bluesNow the high school gymnasium's readyFull of flowers and old legionnairesNobody showed up to protestThey just sniffle and stareThere's red, white, and blue in the raftersAnd there's silent old men from the corpsWhat did they say when they shipped you awayTo give all in some God awful war?Nobody here could forget youYou showed us what we had to loseYou never planned on the bombs in the sandOr sleeping in your dress bluesNo, no you never planned on the bombs in the sandOr sleeping in your dress blues
