Not sure I agree that "Summertime Girls" killed their career. They weren't as good looking as many of their contemporaries and that had something to do with it as well. They also didn't get on a lot of big tours. They opened for DIO & MOTLEY CRUE & all their other touring seemed to be as a headliner in a small venue, basically always playing for their own cult & not really getting out in front of someone else's audience.

borntorun has it exactly right, summertime girls made them alot of money but, it destoyed their ( Bay Area) fan base, I used to live right around the corner from Dave in Santa Clara, he used to wash his car on Saturday like everybody else, great guitarist, horrable management team.

@nickelfer I couldn't agree more. Dave Meniketti is a great guitar player. Listen to his solo albums "Meniketti" and "On the Blues Side". Excellent albums. I wish he would do another solo album.

@purpelaar Any TRUE Yesterday and Today Fan LOVES every song they recorded. Rock N Roll's gonna save the world put them on the map with everyone. Miniketti is an excellent vocalist and a VERY VERY UNDERRATED GUITARIST....Blues GUITARIST as well as a Heavey Metal Guitarist.

I have to say something here. Your facts are all over the place, and not quite accurate. They DID go Global as you put it, but they blew the momentum to go even bigger when they released Summertime Girls and they lost a ton of their intended hard rock fan base. I have NEVER heard ANYONE say they were too hard (?), and I spent my whole life in the Bay Area where Y&T hails. The only "timing" issue was releasing a soft single when they were about to break it huge. At least we agree that they ROCK!!
