Arrangers Notes:

As I set out to begin this arrangement, I not only desired to re-imagine the music in and of itself, but the very nature of its message. As presented in the popular (and dear to my childhood heart) Tarzan film, the piece speaks to the bond between a man and she who raised him. Despite their differences, the love she felt for him was real. As I began this arrangement, I discussed it with friends and colleagues, not all of whom knew the song (and thus its concept, as well). With this in mind, I put my foot forward as I explored my heart for what it was I truly desired to say through this music.

So often, we find ourselves spurned by a world that promises tolerance and acceptance. More often than we'd care to admit, we have retreated into the depths of our hearts and refused to venture out again. Men speak of love, but so often they do it with hatred. Pain is something difficult to understand. Suffering is so much more than cause and effect. It spreads itself throughout your soul like a cancer metastasizes through flesh. It grows, and it chokes.

Please. Whatever your hurt, whatever pain you've felt and by whatever hand-- do not suffer it alone. Let someone in. Your heart was made to be known. You were made to love and be loved. This is the pain we so often don't understand. When we close ourselves, we deny what we really are.
