No you're not being that guy, you're just expressing you're view point like an adult. I don't mean to disrespect Tool as much as I do, I've just had their music shoved down my throat since I was 11. Everyone I have ever met loves Tool. They are a good band, don't get me wrong. In comparison to most of the modern rock bands that are out there today in the mainstream, Tool is a good band. And I can't stand APC...nothing will change my mind about that one, lol.

I remember when I used to think that way, but then I disregarded the hype and my preconceptions about what metal has to be and just listened. I'm still not the biggest fan of some of their softer drawn out songs, but they have some great tracks. I hate to be that fucking guy but you're doing yourself a disservice

lol...Tools tightness...lyrics...and overall arrangements make these guys look like pop rock....I mean 2 minutes in to a 3 minute song..I have heard the same riff 100 times ...oh and they use a diminished chord for a whole section...every band member in tool blows this band out of the water

its because its avant garde and most people cant listen to music that actually requires a long and extensive writing phase... most people enjoy music sang by artists who dont even listen to the song before they record it in the studio and music where the lyrics are written for said musician its pathetic really.
