It's a matter of personal appreciation. Nonsuch, to me, is one of the best albums of all time.

Actually, it looks like this was recorded AFTER Terry left, that's definitely NOT him on the kit.

Whoa. Where did THIS video come from? I would have thought the Play At Home video version would have been the only one ... this blows my mind!

I agree that they're underrated, but everything after Skylarking just devolved further and further into saccharin, Beatle-apery. I liked O&L for a week before I got a toothache from it, and "Nonsuch" was an abortion. I walked away. Now, "The Wedding Present"; THERE'S an underrated British band. Check out "Take Fountain" or "Watusi".

Cant believe this video. Great great stuff here. like they're not playing to a drum machine. Andy and Colin on synths, and Now I can watch what Dave plays. hah

When I think I have heard all the different stylles this XTC band has WOW-ED my soul, I stumble upon this gem. What a different sound (altogether) each person playing their instruments with shere genius. Totally a different flare all the way-AND brilliently exicuted. I say stop hiding from we in America, we are dying for such great talent. I am so glad you are here on you tube. Now the world will have a chance to hear you and give you the LOVE you deserve. You are fantabulous!!! Peace and Love:)

Dave Gregory wrote in a letter to me that much of the drumming on the album was handled by a drum machine. Whatever the case, the stark and colorless thumping on this track gives the jangly Rickenbacker its proper space and creates the atmosphere of an ancient street festival.

Absolutely. I'm from Canada and XTC's music mops the floor with 99% of what's out there, even in my local scene. And there are some fine bands in Vancouver: Mother Mother, Parlour Steps and Veda Hille ( whom Andy signed to his Ape House label ) to name a few of the better ones. XTC write at such a high level. There's an art to what they do. They have the melody, lyrics, structures and atmosphere that's gives their music longevity. A continued ability to surprise long after its first release.

Most underrated British band in history? Try most underrated band in the history of the universe more like it.

Terry did the drumming for the album but I believe that is Pete Phipps on the video....

Love this song. XTC is perhaps the most underrated British band in history. They were more popular abroad than in homeland England.
