It does not mean something significant^^ The song is about someone who does not belong to all the cool guys, someone who is having a pretty hard time. The geek shall inherit the earth probably means that this poor guy should have some luck somewhen too. (She often sings "the last shall be first") Hope that makes sense to you ;)

I guess I could try to ask it in German (mein Deutsch ist schlecht). Warum ist sie "The Geek" gesagt?

Ich verstehe nicht. Why is she saying "the Geek shall inherit the earth?" Does that have some clever translation auf Deutsch that means something significant? I understand the first one (the meek) is a biblical reference, but why change it to 'Geek'? Changing it to 'the Geek' just makes the song seem comedic auf Englisch. Also?

Je ne comprends pas grand-chose (fichu manque de vocabulaire allemand, grmbl), mais j'aime bien leur style musical. Et c'est très agréable d'entendre chanter en allemand, on devrait en passer plus souvent à la radio des comme ça, au lieu des sempiternelles chansons en anglais... I don't understand much (thanks to my cursed lack of vocabulary in Deutsch) but I like their musical style. And it's really sweet to listen to songs with lyrics in Deutsch : the radio should air more of them !

there are only few. i dont want to show my inaptitude to compare bands to "indie rock" but check out "poems for laila" which do sing quite nicely bilingual but are not entirely "indie rock" but "indie". also check out kettcar, sportfreunde stiller, silbermond and Juli. i honestly hope that you like them :)

@DerZayc good to point out - apart from the obvious translation of the song, there is that ongoing theme of "misheard bible quotations". e.g. "lass diesen knilch (instead of 'kelch') an mir vorüber ziehen".

This song rocks! Gibt es andere Bands, die wie Wir sind Helden klingen? Ich habe nicht viele deutsche Bands gefunden, die aehnlich wie amerikanische "indie rock" sind. Ich haeb zwei Monate letzten Sommer in Deutschland verbrachte, und alles, was ich gehoert habe, waren bloede Pop und Rap Lieder. Kann jemand was mir empfehlen?
