When bands try to impress with knobs rather than ideas. By "knobs" I mean any element of "heaviness" that is increased by turning a fucking knob: compression, distortion, volume, EQ, downtuning, etc - anyone can turn a knob more and more. What is impressive is a quality idea or an interesting message.

'Nothing sucks about metal!' he says, and then proceeds to regurgitate the cardboard cut-out opinions I heard from sixteen year olds in high school from a guy who I assume is in his forties, perhaps mid to late thirties.His band rocks, but I just can't get behind people who so adamantly refuse to look at the potential negatives of the things they love. To truly appreciate something you should be able to recognize it's faults and still admire it.

The hypocrisy of a lot of fans (and sometimes bands). My favorite example of this is when people trash the 80s glam bands for having a "pretty" or "glamourous" look and say "All they car about is the looks and not the music!". Then those same people come back around praising bands like Guns N Roses (and sometimes Nirvana) because "They had a rough look so therefore they are a REAL band!". Claim to hate a band that has an image (a pretty one), then instantly love a band because that have a "rough" and "rebellous" image but claim to be against bands with an image despite when the glam band can outplay the band with a rough image! Keep in mind, glam metal did bring out amazingly talented guitarists such as George Lynch, Vito Bratta, Reb Beach, Bill Leverty, Vinnie Vincent, and a few others!

I hate to say it but a certain small percentage of the fans that have a real big mouth and even more , metal in general for some reason attracts some of the worst people along with the best. These people seem to only listen to metal to seem tough and follow more trends than the people they claim to hate. They have the most warped perception of music I've ever seen to the point where I wonder if they even hear what's coming out of their speakers or they just pretend to listen to what they listen to and don't actually like any music at all seeing how they react to anything that doesn't fit into their narrow minded pin hole of a music taste if I can even call it that since it's so small. Normally I wouldn't care but they are why we have so many stupid fucking stereotypes surround metal in general.
