Wayne King began his professional career as a saxophonist in the Del Lampe Orchestra, then resident in Chicago's famed Trianon Ballroom. In 1927, when his own large orchestra made its debut at the nearby Aragon Ballroom, he adopted a smoother, not Jazzy style and started recording also the "waltzy" tunes, for which he gained the title of „the Waltz King".

His best recordings include such hits as "The Waltz You Saved For Me" (his theme song), "I Don't Know Why", "Goofus," "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" and "Josephine (1937).

In 1950 „Dream a Little Dream..." was a top hit for Frankie Laine. In 1957 it was sung by Doris Day, who was the first singer to record it at the slow tempo in which it had been written. But it is perhaps best known for the rendition by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as "Mama" Cass Elliot of The Mamas & the Papas, in 1968, which sold 7 million copies worldwide.

I think me calling some attackers Old Farts is way less offensive then being called a prick and i only said that after i was attacked. If you go back to my initial comment , i just gave a personal opinion on the music with-out mentioning any one personally. My personal rendition of this song was done by Mama Cass Elliot and her rendition is still played today as well as in some movies.

You can have opinions but it's a bit much to complain that "old farts" attacked you when you also just insulted old people with your "comebacks". I meant no disrespect to Wayne King at all , it was just my personal opinion of which in today's society of Political Correctness you can't have unless it's in accordance with today's views. I was personally attacked and quite viciously because i choose not to say this was great music. It's pretty pathetic that one cannot express their own opinions and be respected for a difference in opinion. So much for tolerance and freedom of speech in this country.

You were being very disrespectful and also your replies were very childish and immature as well. Of course there is a difference of today's music versus the music of these musicians. But honestly, Lady Gaga wrapped in meat and Rihanna singing about an umbrella are not corny? Difference is this was the pop music of then and our pop music now is...well. Granted there was other music then too so it was all a matter of taste.

Ozzie Nelson recorded it first...and his version had soul and emotion..Wayne just did it too fast..like he was in a hurry to finish the song and be done with it forever.
