I do not own the rights to this song!

Bob is Not Your Uncle Anymore

(W. Becker, L. Klein)

This old house looks just the way it was

Just a tumbledown of pine and river stone

But it's only just a shadow

of the place you knew before

Because Bob's just not your uncle anymore

Winter's here

And the day don't last too long

Barely thimbles full of sunshine to go on

There's an ocean full of midnight

rolling right up to the door

I guess Bob's just not your uncle anymore

And I say it without pride

and without shame

That the dopey Irish Setter dog ----

Regan's still his name

Well, he looks right glad to see you

But he might not want to be you

Even though he loves you madly

from before

Before Bob was not your uncle anymore

Good old games

Like they play them back in town

Where the wayward daughter's luck

runs strong and pure

You might feel like you're a winner

but you never know for sure

Now that Bob's just not your uncle anymore

And so we see

You can find your way back home

And that maybe when you get there

There's a lock on every door

Now you know for certain

What the big wide world is good for

And that Bob's just not your uncle anymore

Hey, Walter, nice voice. Your a different voice from Donald, but just as jazz soul driven. Your voice is more common place, but isn't that a good thing. A narrator with a soul. Love you Walter

Sir Walter - been acutely tuned into Becker ( & Fagen / Dan ) since a kid. I would hear Steely Dan on the radio and then have it on replay in my head until I was lucky enough to hear it again. Complex enough for me not to quite remember it and so I really enjoyed the refreshers. This somehow trips me back to that time.

If Bob's not your uncle anymore, how come Walter sneaks in a little Dylan-esque phrasing occasionally here? Okay, it's just a little. This is the first time I've heard Walter sing. He's not a bad singer at all.

I just bought this on amazon like minutes ago! Been so bored of recent music. Going to back to Steely Dan roots. Some nice dub going on.

I like the way this arrangement almost removes the reggae feel from my reference.....
