The lyrics to William Blake by Walk the Moon. Song 11 on the ablum I Want! I Want!

The lyrics to this song are the same as I Want! I Want! so I'm not going to redo it. Here they are:

Oooooooh

Oooooooh Ohh

Oooooooh

Oooooooh Ohh

I walk through the fog

And kiss her through the fence

Oh, how strange and difficult

Feigning innocence is

But show me

Im 17 and you don't know me

Im drinking wine with all the girls

They tuck me in, their bedtime stories

Just before we

Oooooooh

Oooooooh Ohh

Oooooooh

Oooooooh Ohh

I'll come to her house

She'll lay me down

Oh how strange and beautiful

My love, it sounds

I try try try try tryy

To be qui- qui- qui-et

Your da da da daddy's down

But I I I I don't care at all

Show me

Im 17 and you don't know me

Im drinking wine with all of the girls

If shes your baby

I cant be bothered

When she hollers

Oooooooh

Oooooooh Ohh

I trr try try try

To be qui- qui- quiet

Oooooooh

Oooooooh ohh

Im 17 , though you don't know

You can own me for tonight

You tuck me in, your bedtimes stories

Just before we ooooh

Show me, im 17

And you don't know me im drinking wine with all of the shows

They tuck me in

Tell bedtime stories

Just before we show me

I'm 17 and she don't know

She can't own me for tonight

If she's your baby

I cant be bothered

When she hollers

Only one thing

(Only one thing)

I love WTM, but this must be the weirdest thing I've ever heard. Sounds like it should be in an Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.

this is so bizarre to listen to but weirdly catchy like if he sang the song with a normal voice but with the rest of it at this speed i think it would sound really coolbut it took me a long time to realize he's talking about the same william blake that's mentioned in the book "Wonderkid" and that makes it kind of cool

+ohjhenjoy William Blake wrote Songs of Innocence and Experience -- an illustrated collection of his poems which deal with themes of pure-hearted, uncorrupted childhood and the terror and sadness that come with greater knowledge about the world. In keeping with this framework, the song contrasts the way youth is expected to be "innocent" (not understanding how the world works, and being uncorrupted by the more awful aspects of the world) with the sexually precocious reality of modern youth. The direct juxtaposition of symbols of childhood ("bedtime stories") with mentions of alcohol and sex ("drinking wine" and "just before we ohhh") serves this purpose. "I'm 17, and you don't know me; I'm drinking wine with all the girls....oh how strange and difficult feigning innocence is." The speaker in the story feels that, despite his youth, he is not "innocent" and has to "feign" (fake) it in order to meet expectations. At the same time, there is a note of pride: he seems to be boasting about his prowess, and maybe his ability to use his feigned innocence to gain access to sexual experience. The further layer of the song being a "sped up" version of "I Want! I Want!" -- creating a faster tempo but also a more "childlike" sound in the vocals -- pushes an already somewhat wry, if still earnest, commentary nearly into the realm of beating the listener over the head with a two-by four, even to the point of comedy. The faster tempo perhaps represents the way in which "childhood innocence" (a pretty thoroughly modern invention in the first place, if you read up on it) is foreshortened by pressures on younger people to be "grown up" and sexual sooner, pushing them to "move too fast." The bizarre experience of hearing a "chipmunk" voice (sounding like a prepubescent boy) sing about sex, alcohol, and "you don't know me" wraps the whole thing up with a bow on top.

I'm still trying to understand this haha. What does a sped-up version of I Want! I Want! have to do with William Blake? sooo confused...

Except that it is a REAL track, check the tracklist for the album "I Want! I Want!" from 2010, heck, I bought this song with the whole album before it was taken off of Itunes when they changed record companies.
