Allan and Vinnie are the equal of each other. Shame Al didn't want to pay for Vinnies services after Secrets.

Vinnie Coliauta is the best drummer ever. The guy in the next comment box is saying that bc he's probably shit and jealous.

Often wonder why people bother labeling any musician as the best at anything. Its really doesn't matter, and I'm sure any of the greats would agree with me.

This is by Steve Tavaglione btw

There is nothing jazzy about the devastating forces of a tsunami, but jazz has the force to interpret it. I think Allan is using his old (but always new) synthaxe...great contribution!.

Samsgarden , talks shit about Virgil Donati. Now by default his opinion about music is worthless.

I was talking about Donati. Vinnie has a lot of cred with me.

Well since this is fusion that Holdsworth is playing and is generally known for playing, it stands to reason that Vinnie would use that style. If you are very familiar with VC's work you know that he can play a number of ways. He often plays very free and loose where the setting asks for it. Safe to say he is as versatile as any drummer that sits behind a set. That's why he works with so many different types of artists.

I'm sure there's enough airheads out there to reinforce your diminished aesthetic discernment.

Yes, you are finally right about something, IT IS JUST YOU.

This entire conversation is bunkum.Nobody needs a specialised education to understand your argument.I think it's puerile to connect technique with some arcane ivory tower dismissal of critics.I get it,the guy's good.So what?I really dislike his music,I find the incorporation of metal the death knell for any genre. It's overwrought & emotionally basic.Virgil isn't dynamic either, he plays everything hard & I just don't find him musical.I'm sure he has his admirers & the whole niche thing going on

6:00 /watch?v=zomenMGrT6A I think they know it without mentioning names but who cares what they think. You're presenting an argumentum ad verecundiam

It's irrelevant

I'm unconvinced, sorry. His style is best described as technical hard rock.

Groove? Donati sounds like an embellished version of the drummer from ACDC But that's just me

I don't know what that means. Nobody can execute anything to perfection, then they're just a series of caricatures like Guthrie Govan. Doing one thing well is good enough. I just don't like Donati's style at all. It's bland.

Nah...Sanchez is just more of a jazz guy.Donati is probably the best drummer in the world currently. There is nothing that Donati can't execute to perfection. He just does what he wants.

Yeah, much prefer Sanchez's polyrhythms over Donati's , who seems to do them for the sake of it over musicality.
