Wow, my day is made... I first heard this absolutely mind blowing cover on this fantastic Sydney Rock radio station Triple J in something like 1992 or maybe 1994. And I so desperately wanted to hear it again... I was going through some bands made of shooting stars who ultimately crashed, a short lived band called Gangwar made up by Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls, Heartbreakers) and Wayne Kramer from the MC5. They played this track and I thought, I'll look up Veruca Salts's again... Yeah !!! I can now rock in peace, mine, not my neighbours !!!

Thinking it's taken too seriously. Part of VS's appeal is there rough, distorted sound. Who fucking cares if it's not as good as the Knack. It is cool either way. Come on you've never heard bands just putting a cover out for fun, and not caring how it sounds, putting their own spin on it. Jeeez relax your sphincters some of ya.

According to an article re-printed in a book called "Milk It!", they recorded this song to be included on a compilation of contemporary bands recording hits of the 70's. After they landed a record deal they reneged, and their management threatened to sue the label putting out the compilation, forcing them to remove this song. The people putting out the compilation were within their rights to include the song, but feared that defending themselves in a lawsuit may bankrupt them, so they complied.

apples & oranges. It all comes down to personal taste. I find this interpretation interesting, but my personal taste runs more to the upbeat original version. It has more energy. This one is definitely a sexy version though.
