I don't think the caliber of songwriters that came out of our generation could ever be duplicated. I have to be honest and say that I realized that I never truly appreciated the inherent talent of the many that past through the era of my youth. I only thought I did. A teenager cannot grasp the brilliance of the lyrics these songwriters created. With age came a true understanding of the depth, meaning and emotion of the words they had written. There is a lot to be said for the music we listen to for entertainment. But there is a lot more to be said for music that has the ability to touch our emotions. Age give us the ability to relate to the music and it becomes that much more special, as if we thought that were even possible. I know it has for me and I have to wonder how one thanks these artist's for this amazing gift we call "Music". I couldn't imagine having lived a life without it. They were there during the good times and they helped me get through the most difficult times of my life and they have healed my soul on more than one occasion. All I can hope is that they know how many lives they have touched.
