Almost forgot Dr. Know! They're absolutely hardcore punk, and then thrash metal later in their career. Its amazing that 'Mr. Freeze' turned out even more evil once Slayer got ahold of it, but, if you've heard Plug-In Jesus, and the original version, there's no disputing they're hardcore punk (even though like Wikipedia says punk). Anyway, it really doesn't matter too much what people want to call it, it's just rather annoying being "corrected" when there's no reason, or legitimacy for doing so.

While it would certainly make more sense to call Undisputed Attitude a crossover thrash album than crust, since they're taking mostly hardcore punk songs and melding it w/ thrash (not just any metal), calling it hardcore punk is in no way inaccurate. Only D.I. and The Stooges aren't considered hardcore punk, and those represent 3 songs on the album. The 2 Hanneman/Pap Smear songs (DDAMM and Cant Stand You) could best be described as Thrashcore. Anyway, I don't see what difference this all makes.

Why get all pedantic over music (sub-)genres? Isn't that for immature kids w/ too much time on their hands? Anyway, Slayer covered 6 bands on the album. A perfunctory search shows 1) DRI is considered a crossover thrash act (a melding of HARDCORE PUNK and THRASH METAL). 2) Minor Threat's straight-edge hardcore punk; 3) TSOL is associated w/ West Coast hardcore punk movement. And 4) Verbal Abuse is a hardcore punk band from Houston. Crust is more or less considered hardcore punk w/ metal riffs

well hardcore & crust are considered to be just a harder extension of punk. the way slayer does, just sounds pretty awesome imo. but a lot of metal fans seem to have a problem with it for some reason. those of us that either grew up on punk, or maybe came from europe, or simply enjoy both metal and punk, I would imagine love that album as I do

I already have Slayer's full discography, but Undisputed is punk. I'll check out Morbid, though.

If you like this song, you should hear the version from the 'De Profundis' album (way better vocals). In fact, De Profundis is just a ripping record thru & thru. Morbid Angel's 'Domination' you also may like. Check out Slayer tool, from 90-98 they were Death Metal inspired due to its popularity then. 'Divine Intervention' is one of their most evil records, and without the usual dm vocals. 'Undisputed Attitude' is the greatest metal LP ever if you want to hear hardcore/crust at its hardest.

I agree, I can't get into them either cause of the vocals, and I usually have a hard time getting into bands similar to this, but check out Atheist, they're death metal/jazz fusion, the vocals are pretty good too. Also, if you don't already know of them, Death is really good also.

If your narrow taste in death metal comes from abhorring those stupid cookie monster vocals and you do like this, could you please recommend me what other death metal bands you may like? I love the feel of death metal but I hate bands like Cannibal Corpse cause the vocals are just a dude gargling on diarrhea.
