Just the fact that the actual drummer of this great band took the time to respond and post here says a lot about the man and how much he cares about their sound. It also says a lot about why Mick and the guys probably picked this guy, not just because of his obvious chops on the kit, but because he gives a damn. And Mick Box has always "given a damn" about the HJeep legacy and sound. SO...if Russell is good enough for Mick and the band, leave it alone and pay your respects.

Russell, WELL SAID. If Mick and the boys like your drumming, and they OBVIOUSLY DO, then the rest of the world should piss off and let you guys make music. Rock has NEVER been about living in ANYONE's shadow, and a drummer with your abilities doesn't have to take crap from anyone other than his bandmates. YOU are the one on the stage making it happen fror US, and for that, you earn MY respect. Rock on Russell and thanks for helping these legends continue on! BTW, your a hell of a drummer!

dAMN STRAIGHT!!! it bothers me that people want us to sound like people they know instead of being open minded long enough to close their eyes and just let in "the new"..

Had the pleasure of watching these guys in Frome last night, they were awesome and every bit as good today as they were when I used to see them in the 70s. There were a couple of band members I didn't know too much about but they certainly play so well together and I thought that the drummer was very good, powerful and added a real drive to the songs. I really hope to see them again some time soon.

To TD12KX....I'm the one that became the new member and drummer of this amazing band. The rest of the guys love how I play and so do the fans. I have been playing the drums a long time and know what to play mate. I'm the drummer now and don't live in the shadows of Lee of any other drummer. That's not what being a musician is all about. I always try to make the music sound the best it can with my way of playing. I'm my own person and deserve to be allowed to drum the way I see fit.

I wish the drummer would quit trying to fancy up the song with the Texas Shuffle and those alternating accented triplets on the breaks. Lee Kerslake used to just play a simple double shuffle throughout the song that was tight and flowed nicely. "Less is more." Everyone likes to hear this particular song as close to the original as possible. This is the song that made Uriah Heep Super Stars in the United States in the early '70's. Rock on Mick Box! You da man!
