Uncle Tupelo were great 4 brilliant albums and I've a few bootlegs (including last show) - old enough to remember when they were together No Depression my first UT album and probably my favourite - can't go wrong with Still Feel Gone or March 1992 or Anodyne though, all very good Good compilation came out when Wilco started making waves Followed Jeff with Wilco and now Tweedy Followed Jay with Son Volt and some solo releases Two very talented guys and gone is different directions but both continue to shine Great post - man they look young !

Uncle Tupelo > Wilco + Son Volt. Most tragic break-up since the Beatles.

look up Sonvolt and Wilco to see where Uncle Tupelo ended up. As for Why? they're musicians...

LOVE it. This could've been their last song, and I'd have been completely happy. Jay and Jeff put so much emotion into it.

@jczother Nah--Jay had already told them he was leaving, and they did this last group of shows as a favor to their manager.

@Sjack90 The passion of Jay, great tribute to Lowell. I love it!

i really like this group and appreciate that they tried--but this song should be left to little feat.

@FENDIN10 Neil Young, what does he have to do with Lowell George? They did cover a couple neil songs live and on jay farrars stone, steele and bright lights he does like a hurricane, but Neil was nowhere around little feat or U.T.

@81Bear It took them by surprise man, Jeff and the rest of the band were taken off guard, Jay was the only one who knew and had his band in the wings. They we're like lennon/mccartney, just to much damn talent for one band, look at the difference in there music today... I love em both. From St. Louis!!!

Cool, I'm in st louis 39 so I seen em many times. I think Jay was fed up with them going nowhere, he made son volt and came out with trace a few months after. jeff's made wilco made there 1st fast because they didn't know they were breaking up, it was basicly U.T. without jay. Wilco's been through several members and are probably the most talented band now and jay still does his own thing here in st. louis. son volt and wilco both have new lp's out. no one really knows, I read jeffs book.
