Eric Oswald, Jani's brother, opens up on a little riff that he used to play that made Jani feel like home. Then he played the intro to Uncle Tom's Cabin (which Eric wrote) and then Joe Retta (Sweet) Sean McNabb on bass and James Kottak on drums (ty hbinhb for the info!) stepped up and played the rest of the song. Joe did not really know any of the songs well, but he tried and has a truly amazing voice!

Oh Good God... What is there to say after seeing that ??? First of all I have been fortunate enough to see Eric play & sing elsewhere besides this occasion, & like his little brother he is AMAZINGLY TALENTED but if it were possible for Jani to have somehow came back for even 20 minutes I hope he would have spent them helping Eric kick several asses !!! This guy just lost his brother & he is on stage at what is allegedly a TRIBUTE to Jani, trying to talk, to share with the people in the audience & THE STUPID MORONS CAN'T SHUT THEIR PIE HOLES long enough for him to clearly say one thing, then to add insult to injury the band is all hyper like they are gonna run outta time or something, & practically toss Eric off stage so they can play, & then the dude BUTCHERED the lyrics to this masterpiece of a song... What a cryin shame & I don't really give 2 F_CKS who on that stage did what else, with what bands etc. etc. etc. It is supposed to be a TRIBUTE to someone we all lost, & his immediate family member can't be given the basic respect of 3 minutes of quiet, so he could talk... SAD !!! If Eric was not actually in this video & the family pics of Jani that we got to see some of I would say this tribute WAS NOT a tribute at all, & never should have happened... Jani was a MASTER on & off stage, put a pen in his hand & you got "poetry in motion" baby !!! I am not sad anymore because I know in my heart that Jani is rockin it out with the likes of Jim Morrison & I can hardly wait to see that concert played in "Heaven" where respect actually happens... Shame on the audience with running their mouths so loud, shame on the band for being so damn rude to Eric & shame on Joe for screwing up the words... O:p

Yeah, too bad the guy couldn't have taken the time to learn the lyrics. everyone's talking about how talented he was, in order to be a good singer you kinda have to know the lyrics to the songs you're gonna sing. I thought that it was about as disrespectful as you could get, throw in the dumbass's runnin' their mouths while his brother's trying to talk, and the band pacing around waiting to play their"gig", what a joke. I'm gonna shout out to jani, "Love ya man, sorry about all the stupidity".

It's been all these years and I just now saw the "shout out" to me hbinhb :) I was in the Midwest attending to family matters and missed this show! Thanks! I still miss Jani to this day. Amazing song writer and lyricist!

these guys were chomping at the bit to get his ass off the stage just so that they could "rock it"..notice all of the "paceing" back and forth while the guy was playing...probably the biggest "gig" they ever played..

Jani when he was at the top of his game was a serious "Rock Star". He looked the part, dressed the part and had that attitude. It seems the longer he is gone the stronger his music is getting, as if he is saying "Dont forget me i touched your lives", its freakin' errie in a way. RIP Jani we do miss you very much Bro.

You know what's weird to me? Fans can remember words to thousands of songs by hundreds of bands but most singers can't remember the words to their 40 or so songs lol

The singer stinks. I cant believe they couldn't find anyone there who actually knew the song. Eric is awesome on the guitar intro. At least the singers hair looks good right.....whatever. Jani was one of the best rock singers and his songs are still great today!

Disrespectful? How about doing a Jani Lane tribute memorial and not even bothering to learn the right words to his song? I mean, how much effort could it have taken? Apparently, more than Joe Retta wanted to give.

Sounded great to me. Only noticed that he sung wishing well instead of prison cell in the one spot but these guys do this stuff on the spur of the moment many times. Stop bitchin about a couple words. They came to honor Jani and hav some fun and sounded pretty damn good. Im sure Jani forgot a few of his own lyrics in his time and was lookin down going "yep, ive done that." Stop hatin on people and trying to make a positive into a negative. Ur pathetic. Its ALWAYS a good thing so stop bein an ass
