They already made those old albums. Making the same thing again would just be redundant. Whenever you need that old sound, those records are there for you to listen to, and they do what they do pretty much perfectly. An artist wanting to move on and explore new avenues of expression is pretty natural. Even those old albums are radically different from each other.

Or they just grew out of the passion they had in the 90's, it's sad to say but sometimes the artists aren't as passionate about the art as much as the fans. If they are trying to be really artistic, which I bet you're right, they have a weird way of going about it...
