Ulrich Schnauss is a German electronic music producer. His ethereal sound calls to mind such diverse influences as Chapterhouse, My Bloody Valentine and LFO. Ulrich's musical output began under the pseudonyms of View To The Future and Ethereal 77. His electronica and drum-driven pieces were noticed by Berlin electronic label CCO (City Centre Offices), on which Ulrich subsequently released his 2001 album 'Far Away Trains Passing By'.

@secludedmisfit I only discovered this in March 2005, so I wouldn't know, really. Let me just remind you that there were about 8 different versions of Alternative Nation (with localized playlists) airing across Europe back in 2001, so it may be a bit difficult to figure out when and where this video aired for the first time. You may be right anyway, they probably picked it up some time later.

@chilledfil I never saw this on Alternative Nation, and I watched AN on a regular basis back in 2001. I can no longer recall if I ever took breaks so I could get some damn sleep, ha. I'm certain I first saw this video on 120 Minutes in the summer of 2005. I guess Ulrich Schnauss was still very obscure in 2001.

@secludedmisfit Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen it on any other shows, although I guess it probably got a few spins on Alternative Nation as well when it came out, back in 2001.

Yay, I love this video! It's lo-fi and grainy, and it reminds me of another pretty cool video (The Bubblemen Are Coming, that is. The video to it is better than the track itself, ha ha.) Has this ever been played anywhere else than on 120 back in the good ole days?
