I suggest this mix is better than it sounds at first; the rhythm guitar is super-in-your-face at the start and is ducked nicely as the bass+lead join in; I like it. Also just to be pedantic you'll see the drummer has a pair of hard disk recorders that are playing a click track plus backing sounds and other stuff; it's a nice mix of prerecorded and live. Finally, there's no bass on TV anyway; they roll it all off...

there is no low end on that bass, how disappointing, and the snare is literally like a tin can. The sound engineer has done awful.

I am probably very biased on this, but I never understand why they usually hush the bass on this song whenever they play live. It's such a cool line, I feel like it needs to be heard better.
