Love the combination of John Doyle and Evan Bleach (sp?) whichever instruments they play. I'm only down on the banjo player (he needs to remember the charts :)

This is my favorite TS video, not just because "Gotta Give Me Some" is one of my favorites, but because they all seem to be having so much fun in this performance. Shaye actually smiles some @1:54! and Erika is really enjoying herself. Check out the sly smile she gives when she gets applause @3:06. I miss seeing Erika with the bass drum strapped on because she really moves and sways with it. Now she sits on it, probably because it is too tiring to wear the thing for an hour at a time.Folks, this is really a first class traditional jazz band. They are much more than your average street musicians. Very polished and tight in their playing. I think Shaye Cohn is the best cornet player out there for this type of music. She doesn't do the acrobatics on the horn that some players do just to show off. Her playing is all about the music and she always brings a smile to my face when when blows that horn! I am enamored with Shaye and Erika (for obvious reasons!), but everyone in the group is outstanding. I hope John Doyle continues to perform with group. I put him right up there with Shaye. He really adds to the group.I just recently discovered this group thanks to YouTube and DIGITALALEXA, and I am so blown away that I have planned a trip to N.O. later this month to see them perform. Not that I need an excuse to make a trip to N.O., but they are definitely the great reason for this trip.

And I thought those things were for washing clothes. You learn something new every day. Dang, I have got to get to New Orleans.

Street music makes my heart sing! And Tuba Skinny are just sooo fine! Also the video quality: lighting, focus, distance, variety of venues, sound quality. Just a great uplifting experience! Many thanks DIGITALALEXA for the wonderful uploads.

Anyone notice that the clarinet player usually plays the sax and the sax player most often is seen playing the clarinet. These two are amazing!

This lady who plays trumpet and piano is great. The alto, too. But the trombone to me sounds a little out of tune always, and the clarinet is too corny often, although not on this piece. Not a bad band at all, but no match to the oldtimers of Preservation Hall who play with much more integration and swing.
