I am American and I like Military History. Early am takeoff from ship, join up in formation, dive bombers, torpedo planes, fighters, fly 200 miles undetected to Pearl Harbor and return to aircraft carriers. This movie portrayed history the best.

True! He warned PM Konoye... "Six months to a year, I can't promise past that." And six months later....Midway. They should've listened to that man!

This is not my real name on Facebook, its just a page name....if you go ahead and like my WW2 page I will see your name....but on my page I only use #1 to identify myself, because I like to stay anonymous.....just have my reasons for doing it that way...

Thanks I will. As we are loosing so many WWII vets each year their families are apreciative to anything that might add dimension and incite to their father's mother's etc.. WWII experience. My dad never wrote anything down and did not talk much as did most of those who lived through that time so look for my name to add as a friend in FB...David Holmes

I guess it wont allow me to post the link, but type in "world war 2" into the facebook search bar and the page profile picture is of a red-tailed P-51D Mustang of the Tuskeegee Airman....world war 2 is spelled in lower case letters and the cover picture is of a parked P-38 "Lightning" on Clarke Field in the Philippines. I also have pics of my trip to the Philippines and I took pics of the Camp O'Donnel camp where the POW rescue took place in Cabanatuan and the idea for the movie "The Great Raid"

Not a problem, so many people think what the Yamamoto character said in the movie was historically accurate...but to people that research the war in an in-depth manner know what he really said...I have my own very popular WW2 page on Facebook, you should come by and have a look, I have been doing the page almost 3 years....I feel its one of the best on Facebook...heres the

As a student of military history I really appreciate your response. Many thanks!

Its not the real saying he said, that was made up for the movie...He really said.."A military man can scarcely pride himself on having 'smitten a sleeping enemy'; it is more a matter of shame, simply, for the one smitten. I would rather you made your appraisal after seeing what the enemy does, since it is certain that, angered and outraged, he will soon launch a determined counterattack.....
